A commemorative audio walk
Une fleur dans le fleuve
Every year in April, the Rwandan community in Montreal gathers to commemorate the hundreds of thousands of men, women and children who were murdered during the 1994 genocide. The audioguided walk follows the commemoration route, from the Berri-UQAM metro station (at the corner of Berri and Ste-Catherine Streets) to the Clock Tower overlooking the St. Lawrence River in the Old Port. This walk will take you through the busy streets of Montreal while being guided by the voices of Montrealers of Rwandan origin who will share their stories with you.
As the shared stories are of a sensitive nature, audio is not available for downloading for use on personal mp3 players.
This audio guided memorial walk was designed by Steven High, Lisa Ndejuru and Phil Lichti as part of the Montreal Life Stories project.
